Species endemic of the subantartic forest; in Chile found from province of Curico to Islas Guaitecas. Tolerant to various types of soil, ilimination and competition with other species. Grows in pure stand on the slopes of both cordilleras. Seeds with a hight contant in oil, sold commercially; also appreciated as melliferous.
